SCOPE Thought Piece, Question #7: Would you recommend a centralized prevention office or function for schools and college campuses? If so, what would an ideal centralized prevention function look like in your view?

Beth DeRicco, Ph.D.

This question assumes that one organizational structure is appropriate for all organizations, communities and institutions.  Yes, a centralized effort is more effective in some environments, however, this assumes that the person in the management/leadership position has a deep understanding of the priority of process, and less focus on content, and can manage the competing priorities of the content areas that they supervise.
